Lantos published in JAMA Diagnostic Lab Interpretation

Paul Lantos, MD, does quite a bit of research about tracking and identifying Lyme disease. His work was recently was published in a JAMA Diagnostic Test Interpretation, a new JAMA series in quiz format showing a

patient’s clinical presentation and test result(s).

In this series, Lantos et al discuss a 10-year-old girl who developed an annular skin lesion on her anterior neck (see image to left).

The series asks the reader how to best interpret a diagnostic test. The main thrust of the article is to explain how the test is interpreted along with a discussion of what the test measures, its limitations, and if there are better testing strategies for the patient’s clinical problems. It aims to provide information for all JAMA readers, ranging from medical students to experienced clinicians. Tests discussed in this series are used to evaluate common clinical conditions.
