​SHM - NC Triangle Chapter 

The North Carolina Triangle Chapter of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) met Thursday, October 12, at Embassy Suites in Cary.  A big congratulations goes out to Dr. Suchita Shah Sata, who was named President-Elect for the SHM Triangle Chapter and Dr. Megan Brooks who led the group winning the award for best poster in innovation! Her team's subject was: "Development of an Interprofessional Teaching Unit at Duke Regional Hospital."

"Megan Brooks, Iris Padilla, Faye Farber, Vernee Belcher, Lalit Verma and Poonam Sharma continue to work on this incredible project and greatly deserve this recognition," says colleague Nilesh Patel, MD.

Duke GIM also had many poster presentations at the conference: Drs. Suchita Shah Sata, David Boyte, Eric Pollak, David Ming, Poonam Sharma, Sarah Hale, Laura Caputo, Venu Reddy, Tara Spector, Jenny Van Kirk, Elizabeth Hankollari, and Cara O’Brien.  Dr. Nadia Pasha will remain on as the group’s secretary.

New DGIM faculty member

Swapna Joseph, MD, a hospitalist for Duke University Hospital, joined DGIM as a faculty member on October 1, 2017. She was previously a hospitalist at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Welcome!
