Maestro Care tips from a DOC doc

By ajz6@dhe.duke.edu
Daniella Zipkin, assistant professor of medicine (General Internal Medicine), shared these tips about Maestro Care, which is now in use at the Duke Outpatient Clinic:
This tip can be really useful for completing notes easily, and I learned something from one of our interns today (who's been on Epic) that makes it even better.
To do your assessment and plan:
  1. Push problem list items over to the visit diagnosis section, and/or add diagnoses to visit diagnosis directly
  2. Do your orders and associate them ALL, even meds/refills. (this will make the A&P nicer later)
  3. At the progress note field, when you're ready, use the dot phrase ".assessplan" - this pulls in your diagnoses and the corresponding orders as a smartlink.
  4. Finally, select the whole blue section, right click and look for "make this field editable" - and viola, you can add any additional thoughts/comments to the individual problems.
Another great tip for notes: After your intro, use ".hpi....." to find HPI blocks on almost everything. Nice!
