Robin Byrd is a recent addition to our GIM team! She will be taking over for Nancy Thomasson, who is counting down the days until retirement (her last day will be December 18). Here is a little more about Robin:
How long have you been at Duke? How long have you been in the Division? What did you do before coming to the Division?
I have been at Duke working in General Internal Medicine for about a month. Before coming to Duke I worked at GlaxoSmithKline and Merck Pharmaceutical as a Financial Analyst in R&D Finance.
What does your work as a Staff Assistant involve? What does a typical day for you look like?
Since I am fairly new in my position, I enjoy learning something new about my job every day and attending classes for Procure to Pay Specialist certification.
What do you enjoy most about working at the Division?
As a Staff Assistant for GIM I serve as purchasing manager for the division, submit reimbursements for travel and miscellaneous expenses and set-up meetings and conferences logistics.
What passions or hobbies do you have outside of the Division?
I enjoy riding my bike for exercise and evening walks; as well spending quality time with my family that I love very much.
What is a fun fact about you that people may not know?
I mentor young women about financial planning, savings and budgeting. I also volunteer for a few non-profit organizations in the area.
