MRRC News: Patient Navigation Conference, UNC Zollicoffer-Merrimon Lecture

The Minority Recruitment and Retention Committee invites Department of Medicine faculty and staff to attend several upcoming events: The North Carolina Oncology Navigator Association will hold a Patient Navigation Conference from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fri., Feb. 1 in the Searle Center. The topic is "The State and Science of Our Art," and the event is open to all patient navigators including nurses, social workers, case managers, health educators, volunteers and anyone who works with screening, community education and the care of patients with cancer. This event is hosted by the Duke Cancer Institute and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. UNC School of Medicine's annual Community Service Day and Zollicoffer-Merrimon Lecture includes several events over three days. On Fri., Feb. 15Brenda Armstrong, MD, Associate Dean of Medical Education and director of Admissions at Duke School of Medicine, will give the 33rd annual Zollicoffer-Merrimon Lecture, "The Urgency of Diversity in the Health Care Workforce: Truth and Consequence," in G100 Bondurant. Armstrong appeared on WUNC's "State of Things" last week. The topic was "A Look Back, 50 Years After Duke Integration." Listen here.
