New funding: DOM Faculty Research Award

By Anton Zuiker
Among the recommendations gathered at our recent DOM Research Retreat was the suggestion that the department find additional ways to provide funding to young investigators. Monica Kraft, MD, vice chair for research, announced today that that the Chair’s Office will fund a new DOM Faculty Research Award that will provide support for at least one faculty member for up to $100,000 for one year, with a renewal option for a second year of support. This award reflects the recent suspension of the KL-2 award normally given through the CTSA grant (Mentored Clinical Research Scholar Program), but also addresses the desire of the chair, Mary Klotman, MD, to support promising faculty research that, given department support, will be competitive for NIH funding.
