Perlman featured on front page of The Herald Sun

Does this picture look familiar? You may have seen Dr. Adam Perlman on the front page of The Herald Sun recently for an article entitled, “Doctor: Tackle pain from different angles”.

In the article, executive director of Duke Integrative Medicine and faculty member in general internal medicine, Adam Perlman, MD, talks about the single shot approach to pain management may not be the best way to go.

“We have an interest in treating the whole person,” Perlman said. “We consider issues of mind, body and spirit as it relates to a person’s health and wellbeing.”

Integrative medicine is all about being open to things that may fall outside of mainstream medicine, such as acupuncture or even massage. In fact, one of Perlman’s areas of research interest is using massage to help patients with arthritis of the knee.

*** Dr. Perlman also was recently an invited panel participant for the International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health held May 17-20, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The panel addressed issues of “Improving Your Core Leadership Competencies”. Dr. Perlman brought expertise from the curriculum used in the Leadership Program in Integrative Healthcare at Duke.

Congratulations, Dr. Perlman!
