Pope joins Duke to support division development and philanthropy efforts

Jake Pope has joined the Duke Health Development Office, and will work the Department of Medicine on development activities and philanthropy efforts for the divisions of Hematology, Geriatrics, Nephrology, and Rheumatology and Immunology. He will also support the Center for Applied Genomics and Precision Medicine.

Pope will collaborate with Magnus Ohman, MD, vice chair for development, and Blue Dean, executive director for development for the Department of Medicine and the Duke Heart Center.

Pope received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Elon University, and later returned to Elon for his MBA.  Soon after receiving his undergraduate degree, he transitioned from coaching high school and college baseball to working in sales and risk management. He began his development career at Duke University working in donor relations as a stewardship coordinator for financial aid. He has also served as the assistant director of annual giving and parent programs at Elon and, most recently, as the director of annual fund at Duke School.
