John Hamilton, MD, professor emeritus of medicine (Infectious Diseases), has recently published his book "The History of Infectious Diseases at Duke in the Twentieth Century."

Charting the history of the medical center and the department from their founding in 1930, the volume features key faculty members and their contributions to the research, prevention, and treatment of prominent diseases during the last century, including tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, and HIV.

The book aims to make the medical center's past accessible and engaging by highlighting its significant achievements and placing them within a broader historical and social context.
