Retirement celebration honors Dr. Eve Lausier

On Wednesday, June 21st, family, patients and colleagues gathered at Duke Integrative Medicine to celebrate Dr. Eve Lausier's career and retirement. Lausier, a general internist in the Division of General Internal Medicine and a member of Duke Integrative Medicine, is leaving after a long and distinguished service with Duke Health. She will be greatly missed!

Comments we heard about Dr. Lausier at the reception were: "you are a living national treasure", "how humble and giving and unflappable you are", "you made working with you a joy".

Dr. Lausier came to Duke in 1993 and initially practiced general internal medicine at the Duke Clinic on Roxboro Street. However, she has always had interest in plants and the pharmacology of herbs and supplements, having grown up in the backwoods of Maine. Remarkably, ten years ago, she turned her focus to well-being and health rather than the absence of illness and disease.  Lausier chose to pursue a fellowship from the University of Arizona's Program in Integrative Medicine and joined our own Duke Integrative Medicine.

Eve likes quilting, drawing and organic gardening. We extend our best wishes to her for these next steps. We are ever so grateful for her friendship, her prowess as an educator, her compassion and perseverance to make life better for everyone.
