The School of Medicine is launching a new live storytelling series in 2020 to showcase the diverse stories of the people across the Duke Health community.
Telling one’s story on stage can be a powerful way to deepen our understanding of the many unique—and often common—ways we each experience the world. This upcoming year, we’ll host several evenings of storytelling “edutainment” in the Trent Semans Center for Health Education that will focus in on a variety of elements of identity.
Do you have a story to share? We invite faculty, staff and students to use this online form to tell your story. We will select a handful of storytellers for each show. You will be contacted if your story is selected to share at a live show. All storytellers will receive professional coaching from Jeff Polish, executive director of The Monti, a storytelling organization here in the Triangle. https://dukedom.wufoo.com/forms/our-journeys
The first program in this series will take place on January 27, 2020, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Trent Semans Center, where we will kick off by showcasing stories about Hispanic and Latinx journeys — how faculty, students, trainees and staff from these backgrounds came to work, learn, and train at Duke.
