SoM accepting applications for ALICE program

The School of Medicine is accepting applications for the ALICE - Academic Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement - program, a leadership development program for mid-career women faculty in the School of Medicine.

Faculty applying for ALICE must be nominated by their chair or chief to participate. 

The deadline for applications is Dec. 1, 2017. 

This year-long program will include a combination of full-day, half-day, and 1-2-hour sessions. Content will focus on personal leadership skills designed to help individuals gain greater self-awareness, management, and communication skills needed to deftly navigate leadership in academic medicine. Sessions will include:

  • An intensive all-day Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) training focused on of how to manage interactions with diverse personality types
  • 360 Assessment, including a workshop with an experienced Executive Coach to develop an action plan
  • Negotiation workshop led by a national expert in the field
  • Unconscious bias workshop
  • Financial literacy seminars
  • Opportunities to interact with and learn from executive leaders at Duke
  • Robust peer mentoring opportunities 

Faculty will engage with outside leadership experts and will set and refine personal development goals as part of their participation in the program.
