Five Duke University faculty - three from the Department of Medicine - appear on a list of the world's top biomedical scientists.
A recent paper in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation identified 400 of the world’s most influential researchers in biomedicine—and five hail from Duke University. The authors used citation data spanning 15 years (1996-2011) from Scopus, a database of peer-reviewed literature, to pinpoint researchers with high degrees of productivity and impact.
The researchers from Duke are Robert Califf, MD, professor of medicine (Cardiology), director of Duke Translational Medicine Institute and Vice Chancellor for Clinical and Translational Research; Robert Lefkowitz, MD, professor of medicine (Cardiology) and Nobel Laureate; Eric Peterson, MD, MPH, professor of medicine (Cardiology) and director of Duke Clinical Research Institute; Marc Caron, PhD, professor of cell biology; and Terrie E. Moffitt, PhD, professor of psychology and neuroscience psychiatry and behavioral sciences.
