210_TulskyJames2011Congratulations to James A. Tulsky, MD, who was the co-author of a recent Institute of Medicine report calling for an overhaul of the way the U.S. approaches end-of-life care. “Dying in America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences Near the End of Life” recommended improving medical and social services and making them more available, both to improve quality of life for patients and their families, but also to make health care more affordable at the individual and national levels. Dr. Tulsky was one of two Duke faculty members on the 21-member committee that wrote the report. Read the full report.
