Whitson and Johnson are recognized by American Geriatrics Society

Heather Whitson, MD, MHS, assistant professor medicine (Geriatrics) and ophthalmology, and Kimberly Johnson, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Geriatrics), have been recognized with awards from the American Geriatrics Society. Dr. Whitson is a recipient of the 2013 American Geriatrics Society Outstanding Junior Investigator of the Year Award, which was established to recognize outstanding achievement in geriatric research by a junior investigator who is in the career development state of their research career. Dr. Johnson is a recipient of the 2013 American Geriatrics Society Outstanding Junior Clinical Education Manuscript Award, which was established to recognize a junior faculty member who has been first author on an important peer reviewed clinical education article published in a scientific journal during the previous year. Johnson was recognized as the first author of the article "The Junior Faculty Laboratory: An Innovative Model of Peer Mentoring," which was published in Academic Medicine with co-authors S. Nicole Hastins, MD, MHS; Jama L. Purser, PT, PhD; and Heather E. Whitson, MD, MHS.
