Williams writes editorial for Annals of Int Medicine

Well done, Dr. Williams!

The March 1st issue of Annals of Internal Medicine includes an editorial by John W. Williams Jr., MD, MHSc, a Duke GIM clinician-researcher and educator, together with Gary Maslow, MD, MPH, also a Duke faculty member (Pediatrics and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences). The commentary is titled “Seize the Day to Implement Depression Guidelines.”

The March 2016 issue of the Annals includes guidelines from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force on screening for depression in children and adolescents and from the American College of Physicians on treating adults with depression as well as their background reviews. The editorialists discuss the articles and why they believe that current times offer opportunities to improve the care of individuals with depression.

Williams and Maslow’s editorial first appeared online February 9, 2016 and already has a high Altmetric score of “70” which is primarily attributable to pick-up by 7 news outlets including CNN.
