Fellow's Perspective
What are your career goals?
I am interested in a range of kidney pathologies, from lupus nephritis to complications arising from chronic kidney disease. My focus lies in clinical nephrology.
What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
I was interested in a program that offers exposure to diverse kidney pathologies to prepare me for clinical practice upon completion. Also, I looked for a program that challenges me while providing the right amount of support and autonomy to foster my growth. Additionally, I wanted a program that is passionate about teaching and guiding me to achieve my goals.
Which Scholar pathway will you choose and why?
The pathway that fits my interests is the 2-year clinician concentration pathway. For the second-year concentration, I am considering both the transplant and home dialysis pathways. These areas interest me, and I hope to determine my preference during the first year of training.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The Duke Nephrology program met all my criteria for training: immense support, research opportunities, diverse pathology, and solid didactics. You are welcomed with open arms by the faculty, staff, and second-year fellows. I am thrilled to begin my nephrology journey with Duke.
