What are your career goals?
I envision a career in academic medicine as a general nephrologist and medical educator.
What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
I sought out a nourishing environment in which I would be supported both personally and professionally to meet my goals. I also prioritized a program I knew would give me a well-rounded training in nephrology with wide exposure and mentorship to hone my clinical, teaching, and investigative skills.
Which Scholar pathway will you choose and why?
I plan to pursue the two-year clinical concentration pathway with a sub-concentration in medical education through participation in the SEEDS program, which will give me the unique and exciting opportunity to further develop my education skills in a structured program with dedicated mentorship.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Looking upon the program as a Duke internal medicine resident, I was immediately struck by the camaraderie within the Nephrology division and fellowship program. It was clear that the fellows genuinely care for each other as well as for their patients- a collegiality shared by the faculty and program leadership who are clearly excited to teach and to support the fellows both personally and professionally. I know already that the level of mentorship I will continue to receive here is unique and exceptional, as I have already benefited from this.
