Honors
I did once come in third in my age group in the Tobacco Road Half Marathon which was very exciting.
Background
In college I started working in a research lab focused on yeast cytokinesis (so exciting!!) and realized I loved pipetting and cell counting, but ultimately pursued medical school because I also like human interaction. I also had a minor in Jewish Studies in college after I found an interest in Black-Jewish relations. It was an eclectic college experience.
Career Plans
I am on a research track and hope to work primary in research. My interest is in health disparities, particularly in gastric cancer.
What were you looking for in fellowship?
I was looking for a program that would support my unique interests, particularly in regard to health disparities. I also wanted to work with people who were supportive and encouraging.

Experience in fellowship
I have felt so supported at Duke and feel like faculty are always looking for ways for fellows to get involved in research and career development. As someone who is the first doctor in the family, it has been amazing to have so many faculty mentors who have helped guide me through fellowship, and hopefully beyond.
Life in the triangle
I love Durham! When I came to Duke for medical school, I never anticipated staying, but I quickly fell in love with the city. It has everything you need - good food, activities, outdoor activities- without being overwhelming. Also, you have oceans and mountains within driving distance which is the best of both worlds.

Hobbies
I enjoy running, although do miss the flat landscape of Minnesota. I also love hanging out with my two cats - Charles and Susa - who are the absolute cutest and each have many outfits. And of course, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and family. My ultimate goal is to be able to have a chicken coop someday (in true Durham fashion)!
