Start Year: 2025
Fellowship Track: Clinical
Originally from: Nanjing, China; moved to New Jersey as a teenager
Education and training:
- Undergraduate: Rutgers University in New Brunswick
- Medical School: Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
- Residency: New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell
Career goals:
- I hope to become a clinician-educator in an academic medical center, practicing evidence-based Endocrinology and teaching the next generation of physicians.
Reasons I chose Duke:
- There are so many opportunities to systematically develop skills in medical education – Duke offers programs such as SEEDS (Society for Early Education Scholars) that provide year-long mentorship and training in teaching during the second year of fellowship, which I am eager to participate in.
- I was drawn to the wonderful culture of the program and the institution. On my interview day, I felt that everyone I met from the program was extremely polite, kind, and exceptionally intelligent. I knew that I wanted to work in this environment. After arriving, I am continuously impressed by the warm culture of the program. At our VA orientation, Dr. Lakey (an attending) personally spent more than 2 hours patiently walking us through the EMR, helping us get off to a smooth start.
Happy surprises:
- It is very easy to drive around, with no traffic; the city is beautiful and filled with greenery.
- For the foodies, there are many good restaurants to try (I got a long list from Dr. Alexopoulos on day one, and I am planning to try them all!).
