Career and Research goals:
- I want to study and develop strategies to deliver high quality endocrinology care in underserved communities through outcomes research. I hope to better understand barriers and identify actionable pathways for improvement. In my clinical practice, I hope to provide excellent, patient-centered endocrinology care.
Reasons I chose Duke:
- First and foremost, the feeling I got on interview day that the faculty and fellows were warm and welcoming as well as passionate about the field of endocrinology.
- I hope to pursue a career in research, and Duke’s robust research infrastructure and exceptional mentorship opportunities directly support my commitment to advancing health equity.
- Duke provides structured training in research methods and grant writing to help fellows develop strong, sustainable research careers.
- It was important to me to train at a program with a diverse patient population and a wide range of pathologies. Because of its large catchment area, Duke offers extensive opportunities to care for a diverse population.
Happy surprises:
- Durham is so green, even driving to the grocery store is beautiful.
- There are so many restaurants I am excited to try – there is a huge foodie culture here.
- The sense of community I felt on interview day was exactly what I hoped for, the attendings and my co-fellows are incredibly kind and supportive.
