Still undecided and excited to explore the many subspecialities of endocrinology during fellowship!
Build a career in academic endocrinology that combines patient care with teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Provide compassionate care to my patients and develop strong long-term relationships with them to improve overall health and quality of life.

Reasons I chose Duke:

Outstanding clinical training with diverse patient population
Supportive culture among the faculty and fellows with emphasis on mentorship and professional development
Unique opportunities to grow as a medical educator, such as the Society for Early Education Scholars (SEEDS) program, which provides mentorship and formal teaching training

Happy surprises:

Strong sense of community within the division with many social gatherings to help fellows get to know the faculty and one another outside of work
Ancillary support staff (nurses, medical assistants, diabetes educators, pharmacists, and administrative staff) are all incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, which makes it easy to work together to provide excellent patient care
Durham's abundant greenery, beautiful tree-lined neighborhoods, and sunny days make it easy to enjoy time outdoors and improve quality of life.
