I hope to pursue fellowship after residency. I then hope to have a career that is a balance of clinical duties as well as clinical research.
Reflections on the Duke Program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a residency program with strong training and research, while also being surrounded by co-residents and faculty who are kind and fun to hang out with at work and outside of work.
What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
The Duke program has many strengths, with one of the most valuable being the culture of cooperation and helping each other that is ubiquitous across everyone in the department.
What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
All of the faculty I have worked with repeatedly say how working with house staff is their favorite part of their job, and it shows through their kindness to residents and eagerness to teach.
Tell us about your co-residents. What has helped you connect, support each other, and form friendships?
The department organized so many fun activities during the first few weeks of the year, that it made meeting the rest of my co-intern easy. All of my co-residents have been incredibly kind, helpful, and fun, that it has been incredibly easy to find friends and support in the class.
What has surprised you most about Duke?
The thing that has surprised me the most about Duke is the multiple layers of support I have had on each rotation and in the program in general.

What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The food and accessibility of the city have been just a few of the many great things about living in Durham.
How does the Triangle appeal to people of diverse backgrounds?
There are countless activities, restaurants, and attractions throughout the Triangle that there truly is something enjoyable for anyone and everyone.
Where did you choose to live and why?
I chose to live in a townhouse community in Durham because it is in a good location near the hospital and it is where many students, residents, and fellows live, which makes it easy to see people outside of work.
What are your interests outside of medicine?
I like to eat at local restaurants with friends, play golf, and go to Duke basketball games.
