What are your career goals?
I'm interested in helping patients understand their kidney disease with strong lifelong patient-physician relationships. I would like to pursue a career in medical education.
What were you looking for in a fellowship program?
I was interested in a program that would allow a broad education in general nephrology but also given me opportunity to explore more subspecialized fields such as glomerulonephritis, interventional, stone management, hypertension clinics, etc. I wanted to be surrounded by educators that are excited to teach and appreciate growth mindset. I wanted a program that would allow me to tailor my career plan based on my interests.
Which Scholar pathway will you choose and why?
The 2 year clinician concentration pathway, during my second year I would like to enroll in the Society for Early Education Scholars (SEEDS) program as well as take opportunity to further learn about home dialysis modalities.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Duke’s program allows for a true sense of community. You are welcomed into the program to genuinely explore your interests and allow for your personal and professional growth. Everyone including the faculty, co-fellows, and dialysis nursing staff are supportive and helpful. I have found a true nephrology family by attending Duke’s Nephrology Fellowship program.
