What are your career goals?
I'm incredibly interested in Cardiology with a specific focus on advanced heart failure. I would love to become involved in clinical trial design and help bring new therapies to the field. I am also passionate about the growing field of regenerative medicine and envision a future where we can use these technologies to truly heal people.

Reflections on the Duke Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program where I wouldn’t feel like it’s a chore to go to work but where I would look forward to seeing my patients and working with my team every day. I wanted a program that education and well-being and that truly valued their house staff.

What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
The strength of Duke internal medicine is the passion that faculty and co-residents have for learning, teaching, and growth. I love that I am surrounded by people who are incredibly passionate about what they do and for the patients they serve.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
The faculty are exceptional and genuinely care about their teams. While I am given autonomy, I never feel alone, and I feel that there’s always someone I can turn to if I have a question. I always feel excited to come to work to continue to grow and develop into the physician in person that I’d like to be.

Tell us about your co-residents. What has helped you connect, support each other, and form friendships?
I love how down to earth my co-residents are. Either they have been through or are going through the same stages and struggles that I am now. I feel very supported and that I can ask anyone for help at any time without judgment or question.

What has surprised you most about Duke?
The quality of physicians and staff, not just in their specific jobs/roles, but as their overall quality in just being great human beings. I just can’t express how grateful I am to be working alongside these people.

About Life in Durham

What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
The food in Durham is excellent. I already have numerous new favorite restaurants and a growing list of places I need to go.

How does the Triangle appeal to people of diverse backgrounds?
