Career goals:
- My career goal is to combine clinical endocrinology with advocacy to address gaps in diabetes care and improve outcomes for underserved communities.
Reasons I chose Duke:
- Duke has a unique opportunity to integrate health services research into fellowship training and develop skills in improving healthcare delivery.
- Strong career development resources that support interest in advocacy, medical education, research, and more.
- The supportive and collaborative environment I felt during interview day, which has been truly reflected in my experience since starting fellowship.
- Broad exposure to diverse endocrine pathology and the opportunity to learn from faculty with expertise across the field.
Happy surprises:
- I enjoyed having a buddy at the beginning of each rotation. It made starting on a new service less intimidating and really showed how invested everyone is in helping each other succeed.
- Durham is such a foodie city for those who enjoy exploring new restaurants!
- The location is perfect for weekend getaways, whether is going to the mountains or spending a day at the beach.
