Employee Health Hours!

• My COVID Link - Report new or worsening COVID-19 symptoms or new exposures.

• Employee Occupational Health & Wellness (EOHW) COVID Hotline, (919) 385-0429, option 1 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, and 8 a.m. - noon on weekends), After hours call the Duke emergency operator for the exposure nurse on call at (919) 684-8115.

Feeling down? Need to talk to someone? Opportunities for Wellness
All trainees at Duke have FREE access to Personal Assistance Services (PAS), which is the faculty/employee assistance program of Duke University. The staff of licensed professionals offer confidential assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to help resolve a range of personal, work, and family problems. PAS services are available free of charge to Duke faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. An appointment to meet with a PAS counselor may be arranged by calling the PAS office at 919-416-1PAS (919-416-1727), Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Prioritized GME appts are now available also at 6 pm and 7 pm! For assistance after hours, residents and fellows can call the Blood and Body Fluid Hotline (115 inside DUH, 919-684-1115 outside) for referral to behavioral health resources. Another resource is Duke Outpatient Psychiatry Referrals at (919) 684-0100 or 1-888-ASK-DUKE. Home | Personal Assistance Service (duke.edu)

Hi there, Neighbors!

We are so excited for all the opportunities to serve our community this month! The goal of these events is to help people know and love the Durham community for as long as we're here, and hopefully create a lot of fun activities that let residents bond with each other.

Here's what's happening in April - we'd love for you to join us!:

• 👨‍⚕️💩Colorectal Cancer Screening Campaign🎗👨‍⚕️

  • In honor of Colon Cancer Awareness Month (March), a few SARs are hosting a colorectal cancer education drive where they will be informing patients about the importance of screening and providing referrals where appropriate. There are many open slots and they would appreciate as much help as they could get!

  • Time: 9am-3pm on 3/30, 3/31, 4/7, and 4/8

  • Location: 4220 N Roxboro St (same building as the Duke Outpatient Clinic)

  • Sign-Up: sign up here! If you have a non-essential clinic at this time you could ask the chiefs about if you can staff this instead

• 🏫👨‍🎓City of Medicine Academy (CMA) Science Fridays 👩‍🔬👨‍⚕️

  • The City of Medicine Academy (CMA) is a local high school built to prepare youth to enter healthcare fields, with most of the students coming from underrepresented in medicine backgrounds. Science Fridays are a monthly time for Duke residents to talk about a topic of their choosing, all with the goal of showing them the healthcare field and connecting them to physicians who can mentor them in their journeys.

• 🏡⚒ Families Moving Forward Annual “Rock the Block” Event ⚒ 🏡

  • If you missed the sign-up for Habitat for Humanity but still want to support your unhoused neighbors in Durham, never fear- you can still join for FMF’s annual “Rock the Block” workday where they improve the temporary housing space for the families they serve!

  • Time: Saturday, April 11 from 8am-12pm

  • Location: Families Moving Forward (300 N Queen St)

• 🚚🥫Duke Memorial Mobile Market 🥦🍎

  • Join one of many local groups fighting food insecurity in Durham as you load and organize food to then distribute to your neighbors in Durham.

  • Time: Saturday, April 18 from 9am-11am

  • Location: Duke Memorial (504 W Chapel Hill St)

Finally, for those who can’t make it to these events but want to help out, the group we’re highlighting for donations this month is Habitat for Humanity! Sign-ups for our April group build are closed now, but we’re still fundraising for the build to support Habitat and its mission to combat the housing crisis in Durham. Please donate here, any amount counts!
