Internal Medicine Residency News - May 26th, 2026

Last week of May! Extra thanks to those who cared for our Veterans this Memorial Day. We have a busy week in the IM residency with both Resident Research Day and the DHTP Presentations on Friday! Looking forward to celebrating your academic achievements with the Department of Medicine.

Big thanks to Mr. Chris Skowronek for his time and photography skills - the annual IM resident photos turned out great!

ERAS fellowship applications are opening very soon - key things to know are that you can get your token for ERAS on June 5th and begin assigning letters to your letter writers. Ideally, letter writers will have your letters uploaded by July 1st so that you can assign them to the programs. Programs cannot see your application until July 17th.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE ONLINE MODULES DUE MAY 31st , please do so ASAP! This will stop you from getting reminders from us!

Kudos this week to Ashley Jowell and Michael Rauschenbach on fabulous SAR talks, to Zoe Shancer from Stephen Landy for going above and beyond to help a patient in the VA CICU, to Courtney Bair, DJ Jimenez, and Gabby Cooper from Chief Haley for outstanding care of the veterans on Memorial Day weekend, to Julia Couto and Ryan Moore for having the peer selected top CICR presentations for the spring session, and to Ryan Edwards from Dr. Schneider for outstanding ACR teaching!

This week’s pubmed from the program goes to our upcoming Grand Rounds speakers (Califf Award winners): Daniel Bujnowski, Morgan Nakatani, and Roshini Srinivasan! We can't wait to hear about your work!

Have a great week!

Aimee

Hey everyone!

Thank you to all who helped with May's resiteering events! If you are still looking to help out, the group we’re highlighting for donations this month is…Fresh Start Durham! This is an initiative to give neighbors in Durham the dignity of a free shower, clean clothes, and a haircut. Even a small donation helps people obtain these things that we take for granted but that can be such meaningful ways to acknowledge someone's humanity. Donate HERE!

If you have any initiatives you want us to volunteer with or donate to, please let me know! We are always looking for new ways to connect with the Durham community. Keep an eye out for next month's events!

Happy resiteering!

- Madhura
