Internal Medicine Residency News - May 27th, 2025
We are powering quickly towards the end of the academic year! There are a lot of events and deadlines to be aware of, so please be sure to be checking emails from us and from the GME office.
Reminders regarding TSMA (moonlighting):
- If you are graduating and leaving Duke, please do not moonlight after May 31 as GME will not have a way to pay you for your work.
- If you are a rising SAR, you will need to update your TSMA approvals to include July 2025 and beyond to be eligible for moonlighting in the upcoming academic year.
This week, we have the RESIDENCY PHOTO at noon on MAY 29th (THURSDAY) on the steps outside of Trent Siemens. The entire process should take about 15-20 minutes so please be there. White coats are encouraged.
Congratulations to Peter and Kayli Albares on the birth of their son! Welcome to the Duke Fam!
Friday's noon conference is our Annual Residency Awards. Please join us to recognize our teaching attendings and your peers for the resident selected awards!

Hi there, Neighbors!

If you can’t attend the upcoming events but still want to make a difference, consider supporting CWS Durham, our featured organization for donations this month! In honor of Durham’s vibrant refugee and immigrant communities, CWS plays a vital role in helping refugee families resettle. They assist with everything from securing housing and employment to providing legal aid. Check out the “Get Involved” section on their website for practical ways to advocate for refugee populations. It’s a great starting point for anyone eager to help but unsure where to begin.
As always, these events are suggested or led by members of our IM residency. If you have any ideas for community volunteering opportunities or local happenings that could help others connect with Durham and get to know our city and/or neighbors better, feel free to reach out to victor.ayeni@duke.edu to have it included in the next update.
Yours in neighbor-ing and on behalf of ResCo,
Victor
