To apply for a Hematology-Oncology Fellowship position you must submit an application using Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The deadline for applications to enter this fall has passed. We encourage you to submit your applications for next year’s fellowship to ERAS as early as possible. We participate in the NRMP Fellowship Matching Program. The following documents should be submitted directly to ERAS Fellowship Document Office (EFDO):
- Personal statement describing your long-term career goals and plans for research in as much detail as possible
- Four letters of recommendation are requested, which includes a letter from your residency program director:
- One letter from your residency program director is required. A letter from your Department of Medicine Chair is optional.
- Additional letters should be provided by three other individuals who know you well.
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)/Dean's letter
- Medical school transcript
- USMLE scores
- Wallet-sized color photo (optional)
Following the initial review of the completed application, some applicants will be invited for interviews. Applicants who are invited to interview at Duke will be asked to provide the following information by e-mail:
- Two faculty members and/or programs that you are interested in visiting with
- Updated curriculum vitae (MS Word or PDF)
- Reprints of publications (PDFs, if available)
Fellows are selected solely on the basis of qualifications and independent of race, sex, or national origin. However, funds to support the second and third years of the fellowship program are primarily obtained from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). These funds are restricted by the NIH to applicants who are U.S. citizens or who have immigrant (permanent residency) status. Candidates who do not meet these criteria will be considered if they are fully funded by their government or medical school.
The Duke University Hospital USMLE (or equivalent licensing examinations) Policy requires that all graduate medical trainees considered for entry into Duke University Hospital programs at the PGY3 level or higher must have passed Part Three to be enrolled.
