Cooney, Patel and Fowler honored with Distinguished Professorships

Kathleen Cooney, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine, Manesh Patel, MD, chief of the Division of Cardiology, and Vance Fowler, MD, MHS, are among 12 faculty who have been recognized with Distinguished Professorships from the School of Medicine in 2020.

Distinguished professorships recognize both exceptional achievement and the potential for future achievement. They are awarded to our most distinguished faculty who have demonstrated extraordinary scholarship in advancing science and improving human health. In total, Duke University awarded distinguished professors to 32 faculty members from eight Duke colleges and schools. 

Dr. Cooney was awarded the George Barth Geller Distinguished Professor of Medicine.

Dr. Patel was awarded the Richard Sean Stack Distinguished Professor.

Dr. Fowler was awarded the Florence McAlister Distinguished Professor of Medicine.
