DOM seeks candidates for Director of Undergraduate Medical Education position

The Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education position, which will report to the Vice Chair for Education and will work closely with the Chair of Medicine, Associate Director of UME, and Senior Program Coordinator of UME to ensure outstanding medical student education in the DOM. 

Saumil Chudgar, MD, MS, has served as Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for the Department of Medicine (DOM) for the past 7 years. During this time, Dr. Chudgar has been a model for effectively teaching and supporting medical students during their career development. Broadly the Director of UME is responsible for: 1) planning, administration, and evaluation of medical students in the Medicine clerkship and sub-internship; and 2) oversight of all medical student courses offered in the DOM. The Director of UME will work to strengthen existing and solicit new opportunities for medical student education in the DOM. The Director and Associate Director of UME will liaison with education leadership in the SOM and Office of Curricular Affairs.

The Director of UME will be expected to devote about 0.25 FTE to this role.
