On Wednesday, December 3, the Duke Department of Medicine joined residents across the country in marking the 2025 Fellowship Match Day. Faculty, trainees, and friends gathered in Duke North 2002 to celebrate and discover where the next phase of their medical training will unfold.
“It is so exciting to find out where this incredible group of senior residents will complete their subspecialty training,” said DOM Vice Chair of Education Lisa Criscione-Schreiber, MD, MEd. “We are proud of their accomplishments here at Duke and look forward to hearing about their future successes!”
Duke residents matched in nine subspecialties with 15 who will remain at Duke, where they will continue to build their clinical, educational, and research skills in our divisions.
Resident Best Uchehara matched in cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern. “I’m super excited about the program. They have a variety of hospitals, including a public hospital called Parkland, which I’m really excited about,” said Uchehara. “I’m excited about the people and to train in a different environment, unlike anything I’ve experienced before.”
Resident Caitlin Womack is excited to stay at Duke, where she was accepted into a nephrology fellowship. “I am excited to stay here at Duke to learn more and get more into the field of nephrology alongside the mentors that have really already inspired me so much,” said Womack.
“We are so proud of all of our residents who participated in the fellowship match!” said Aimee Zaas, MD, MHS director, DOM Internal Medicine Residency Program. “We know they are poised to make a tremendous positive impact on their future fellowships and look forward to seeing them continue to shine. Many thanks to the outstanding DOM mentors who helped them in this phase of their journey."
