MENTORS program announces new class

Mary Klotman, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, and Laura Svetkey, MD, MHS, vice chair for faculty development and diversity, have announced the Medicine Endeavor to Nurture Trainees to Research Success (MENTORS) program participants for the 2016-2017 calendar year.

The MENTORS program is a Department of Medicine initiative to help research fellows maximize the opportunities of their research time. MENTORS was piloted in 2015-2016 for clinical/health services researchers. This year, it has been opened to include basic and translational researchers as well.

The MENTORS program, directed by Corrine Voils, PhD, and Deborah Fisher, MD, MHS, was designed to supplement the didactics and mentorship that Department of Medicine fellows currently receive in their programs and from other resources on campus.

Weekly meetings involve professional development discussions and works in progress presentations given by the fellows. Meetings are every Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. The first MENTORS meeting kicked off on Oct. 4.

More information about the program can be found here. Any fellow with an interest in research can register for the MENTORS program by contacting Dr. Voils, corrine.voils@duke.edu, or Dr. Fisher, deborah.fisher@duke.edu.
