Duke GIM celebrated the holiday season on Thursday, December 8, at The Cotton Room in the Golden Belt district of Downtown Durham where chic-restyling of a historic landmark created an especially festive venue. 

By sharing experiences of balancing schoolwork with full-time jobs and small children at home, time management skills, and financial aid tips, PEERONE has really become a tight-knit team. The group is celebrating their first anniversary this December, and they have had a very successful year. The team has grown exponentially via word of mouth, and they have accomplished quite a bit during the past 12 months.

Whether they are new or returning to the Department of Medicine, we would like to welcome the following individuals who joined us in recent weeks!

The Duke Internal Medicine Residency Program celebrated the 2016-17 fellowship match this week.

"We are so proud and happy to announce the 2016 Fellowship Match list for our residents and are excited for those continuing on to fellowship and those taking jobs here and around the world!" said Aimee Zaas, MD, MHS, director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. 

Registration is now open for the next School of Medicine Financial Boot Camp, a multi-part series designed to help faculty understand core finance issues with a focus on medical school economics. 

Daniella Zipkin, MD, has recently launched a new GIM Journal Club in an effort to bring GIM faculty together and have more time interacting with residents.

The School of Medicine Office for Faculty Development is now accepting applications and nominations for the 2017 faculty awards. Keep reading for information on the awards and nomination process.

Courtney Van Houtven, PhD, was the senior author on a recent publication in Annals of Internal Medicine entitled, "Dual Health Care System Use and High-Risk Prescribing in Patients With Dementia: A National Cohort Study."
