Chenita Jackson started her role as a new patient navigator for the Advance Care Planning initiative at the Duke Outpatient Clinic back in August.

We are proud to show off some of the work Dr. Clarissa Diamantidis has been leading, including her work as prinicpal investigator on a research study on Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

How do you communicate information to a clinic that includes around 10 non-clinical staff, 10 nurses/medical assistants, 70 residents, 6 attendings, multiple preceptors, and numerous clinicians from many other disciplines?  That’s been an on-going discussion at the DOC and now the team is trying something new!

Virginia Wang, PhD, Clarissa Diamantidis, MD, et al. authored a recent research article in BMC Nephrology entitled, Minding the gap and overlap: a literature review of fragmentation of primary care for chronic dialysis patients. The paper looks at the collaboration and communication of primary care physicians (PCPs) and nephrologists in patients with end-stage renal disease. 

Congratulations to Yousuf Zafar, MD, MHS, associate professor of medicine (Medical Oncology), for his election in the Duke University School of Medicine chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as faculty for Fall 2017.

Clinician researcher, Kevin Shah, MD, isn't new to Duke GIM, but he did recently transition to a regular rank faculty member in the division. Learn more about him in our interview!
