Leonor Corsino, MD, MHS, assistant professor of medicine (Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition), is the associate chair for the Minority Recruitment and Retention Committee as well as the leader for the Department of Medicine Latino Initiative.
“This initiative aims to increase the presence of Latinos at all levels in the Department,” she said. “This year we had a very successful match with a total of three categorical Latino residents and one preliminary resident. We are so excited to welcome them to our Duke family!”

Perfect awarded 5-year program project grant from NIAID
John Perfect, MD, professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, received notification today from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of a program project award (P01) for his proposal entitled “Transdisciplinary Program to Identify Novel Antifungal Targets and Inhibitors." This award, effective 6/25/15, will last five years and, with its cores, total $9,277,000.
