Basic/Translational Researcher Branch

Members of the DoM Faculty Development Academy in the Basic/Translational Research Branch work with the faculty of the academy to develop and implement an individualized faculty development plan and a core curriculum that will help you achieve your career goals in basic/translational research.

Specific goals of the committee include helping the members with scientific writing skills, grantsmanship, presentation skills, transition to academic independence, project and personnel management, effort negotiation, and promotion and tenure.

For more information, contact the branch chair, Dr. Steve Taylor, or faculty coaches Diego Bohorquez, Ph.D., and Dr. Mary Foster.

(My mentor) gave me both big picture advice on putting together the K08 application and asked some of her mentees if she could share some of their awards with me. On the day I was actually submitting the grant, she helped in a very detailed way, fielding questions and helping me through the process.
