The Department of Medicine hosted an all faculty reception on Sept. 19 to welcome new faculty and kick off a new Career Development Seminar Series.

Glass + team receive funding for Acupuncture in the ED project
Dr. Oliver Glass is a co-investigator on a research project that just received funding from The Duke Endowment (TDE) for a project entitled, "Emergency Department Acupuncture to Reduce Acute Pain and Opioid Use."

Funding opp: SOM Core Facility Voucher Program
The School of Medicine is accepting applications for its Core Facility Voucher Program, which offers amounts ranging from $500 to $10,000 redeemable for provision of services at SOM core facilities/shared resources. Application deadline is Oct. 25.
Two from Department of Medicine named 'New Innovators' by NIH
Department of Medicine researchers Diego Bohórquez PhD and Opeyemi Olabisi MD, PhD, have been given two of the NIH Director’s “New Innovator,” awards, which are for high-risk/high-reward work being done by early-stage investigators. The award provides $1.5 million for a five-year project.
The Duke scholars are among just 93 “highly creative scientists” nationwide to receive the grants, which fund innovative and impactful research.
