Hemming discusses new AAMC MedEdPORTAL
This month the American Academy of Medical Colleges’ (AAMC) MedEdPORTAL published an online curriculum regarding Geriatric Depression that Dr. Patrick Hemming helped designed for clerkship medical students and medical learners such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants at a similar stage of clinical training.

Meet your chief resident: Matthew Atkins, MD
Matthew Atkins, MD, is the 2016-17 chief resident for quality improvement and patient safety at the Durham VA Medical Center. In this role, Dr. Atkins studies quality improvement and patient safety and teaches it to Duke internal medicine residents by leading conferences, involving residents in quality improvement projects and working with the residency program’s patient safety quality council. Atkins also works on quality improvement initiatives at the Durham VA.

Duke Palliative Care announces 3 new leadership positions
David Casarett, MD, MA, chief of Palliative Care and professor of medicine, recently announced the creation of three leadership roles in Duke Palliative Care, which will position the program to take advantage of the numerous clinical, research, and education opportunities in Duke Health.
