The Duke Center for Palliative Care is pleased to announce a new annual award to recognize palliative care excellence outside of specialist palliative care services.  The Palliative Care Advocacy Award will honor members of the Duke Health community who are NOT part of Duke’s palliative care program who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to integrating the key elements of palliative care into their daily work. 

Mary Klotman, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, and Lawrence Carin, PhD, vice provost for research, invite faculty, trainees, and students to a special lecture by Warren Kibbe, PhD, director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology at the National Cancer Institute.

GetData@Duke is a CTSI-funded program designed to increase awareness of the various data resources available to Duke’s clinical research community (clinicians, faculty, fellows, residents, staff, investigators, and research navigators) and provide directions for accessing these resources.

Matthew Sparks, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Nephrology), has been named an ASCI 2017 Young Physician-Scientist Award recipient.

There were 4,500 registrants for this year's annual conference, "Hospital Medicine 2017," presented by the Society of Hospital Medicine. The presence of our DGIM hospitalists was evident via presentations, research abstracts, and leadership.

The Duke School of Medicine has selected additional faculty members for the Duke Health Scholars and Duke Health Fellows Program. Among the faculty honored are six individuals from the Department of Medicine.

This spring the Duke Department of Medicine welcomed its new division administrator, Nick Nguyen, MHA, into the division of cardiology. Nguyen is originally from Wilson, NC. Faculty registration now open for the School of Medicine's “Write Winning NIH Grant Proposals” workshop. The workshop will be held on Thur., July 20, 2017. Priority registration for faculty will be held until May 11.
