The March 9, 2021 session of Duke Medicine LEADS featured two presentations on health equities and disparities in medicine. 

Presenters included John K. Roberts, MD, MS, MEd, on, "Hidden in Plain Sight: Race, GFR, and the Will to Change" and Richard Lee, MD, on, "Hidden in Plain Sight: Resetting the Racial Disparities Break in FRAX."

Leonor Corsino, MD, MHS, associate professor of medicine (Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition), was interviewed by Consumer Reports on the dangers of COVID-19 for patients with diabetes.

Larry Jackson, MD, and Jonathan Velez-Rivera, MD, have been selected in the 2021 class of ADVANCE-UP Scholars.

The recipients of the Department of Medicine faculty Excellence in Education Awards have been announced.

Over his long career, Kenneth Lyles, MD, professor of medicine (Geriatrics), has  worked to find better treatments and prevention tips for older patients .

“My passion is old people with bone disease, and I love to do clinical trials," says Dr. Lyles.

David D'Alessio, MD, chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition, and his colleagues have partnered with peers across North Carolina to win NIH funding for an important new effort to advance our knowledge of the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
