Gupta Joins DMPI as First Duke Science & Technology Award Recipient
Dr. Rana Gupta, PhD, a preeminent investigator in the field of adipose biology, will join the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute (DMPI) faculty with an anticipated start date of summer 2022.
Dr. Gupta is the first Department of Medicine (DOM) faculty appointee to be granted a prestigious Duke Science and Technology (DST) award. His recruitment was facilitated by the DST Award and the strong partnership between DMPI, the DOM, the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the DOM, and the School of Medicine Dean’s Office.

Inaugural Vice Chiefs for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VCDEI) announced
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism Committee (DEIAR) announced the individuals selected to become the inaugural Vice Chiefs for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VCDEI) for each division within the department of medicine. These individuals are all wonderful thoughtful leaders who have shown a commitment to improving DEI within the department.

PWIM Peer Mentoring Program
The Program for Women in Internal Medicine is pleased to announce the revival of the longitudinal PWIM Peer Mentoring Program. Peer mentoring sessions will occur monthly at alternating times, Wednesdays at 5:30 pm and Fridays at 8:00 am, and will include both in person and virtual options for attendance whenever possible.
Sessions will rotate among three core themes, such that each theme will be discussed quarterly:

The August 3, 2021 session of Duke Medicine LEADS featured a presentation led by Hayley Cunningham, MD, "Gender Affirming Care: What All Physicians Need to Know." Cunningham was joined by co-presenters, Carley Kelley, MD, MPH; Deanna Adkins, MD; Kristen Rezak, MD; and Dane Whicker, PhD.
