Dr. Carlson authors powerful "A Piece of My Mind" article entitled You Did Not Teach Me What You Thought You Did. 

Two faculty from the Department of Medicine, L. Ebony Boulware, MD, MPH, and Peter Ubel, MD, have been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine (NAM). Election to the NAM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.

A new quality improvement initiative to improve care for hospitalized patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) and withdrawal just launched in July at Duke University Hospital. Project COMET stands for Caring for Patients with Opioid Misuse through Evidence-Based Treatment and is led by GIM Medical Instructors, Dana Clifton, MD, and Noel Ivey, MD.
