Internal Medicine Chief Resident, Jared Lowe, MD, wins poster awards in two categories.
Chair’s Research Award is a ‘lifeline’ for junior investigators
Recipients of the award for 2020 are Marat Fudim, MD, MHS, a fellow in Advanced Training in Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, and Julia Messina, MD, MHS, assistant professor of medicine (Infectious Diseases). Each will receive $95,000 in protected research time for one year to continue developing data and findings for their applications for NIH K funding.
Nazo receives Duke Cardiovascular Research Center's Staff Appreciation Award
Nour Nazo, lab manager of the Rajagopal Lab in the Duke Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), has been named the 2020 recipient of the CVRC Research Staff Appreciation Award.

VA ESP Program, joins battle against COVID-19 pandemic
The Durham VA Evidence Synthesis Program (ESP) will be joining the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting rapid evidence reviews prompted by real-time clinical questions from the field.
Dr. Bowlby recognized as a Duke Hero
GIM Associate Professor, Dr. Lynn Bowlby, was recognized by Dean Klotman earlier this week. She was nominated by a colleague for being a hero they work with at the Duke Outpatient Clinic.

Kathleen Cooney, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine, Manesh Patel, MD, chief of the Division of Cardiology, and Vance Fowler, MD, MHS, are among 12 faculty who have been recognized with Distinguished Professorships from the School of Medicine in 2020.
