Dr. Peter Ubel, a Duke physician and behavioral scientist, has recently authored four Forbes (Health Information and Health News) online articles. The articles discuss popular topics for this time of the year like healthcare and holiday eating.

Vincent Price, PhD, provost of the University of Pennsylvania since 2009, has been elected Duke University’s 10th president, announced David Rubenstein, chair of the university’s Board of Trustees, on Friday.

Dr. (John) Patrick Hemming explains his recent narrative essay that was recently published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM), entitled “A Gay Couple meets their Mormon Doctor.”

Update: Rodger Liddle, MD, won Duke GI's competition to raise money for pancreatic research at Duke. The competition raised $1,070.

Brice Weinberg, MD, professor of medicine (Hematology) and immunology, is one of three Duke University faculty named Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Associate Professor of Medicine, Courtney Van Houtven, PhD, has been invited to serve as an associate editor of Review of Economics of the Household (REHO) journal.

Robert M. Califf, MD, who is on leave from Duke to serve as commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, received the American Heart Association's Research Achievement Award for 2016 “for his visionary clinical research leading to paradigm-changing procedures that have directly and significantly improved, in innumerable ways, the management of patients with cardiovascular disease.”
