Welcome to the Duke Division of Nephrology.
It is a privilege to serve as Chief of a division with a longstanding commitment to excellence in patient care, education, discovery, and service. Our mission is both clear and ambitious: to provide exceptional and compassionate kidney care; to train the next generation of clinicians, investigators, and leaders; and to advance discoveries that improve the lives of people living with kidney disease in our community, across the nation, and around the world.
Kidney disease affects every aspect of health and can touch patients and families at every stage of life. At Duke, we bring together a highly collaborative team of physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, transplant specialists, surgeons, researchers, and many others who work side by side to provide comprehensive, individualized care. Our clinical programs span the full spectrum of kidney health, including hypertension, glomerular disease, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, kidney stone, dialysis, onconephrology, and kidney transplantation.
At the center of this work are our patients and their families. We are committed to listening carefully, communicating clearly, and partnering with each person to make decisions grounded in medical excellence, compassion, and respect.
Innovation is central to who we are. Across our division, clinicians and investigators are working to translate new scientific insights into better diagnostics, safer and more effective therapies, and improved outcomes for people with kidney disease. Our Mission
The Duke Division of Nephrology strives to provide quality care for our patients through a focus on patient satisfaction, ongoing research, and the education and development of faculty and fellow physicians.
Our mission is to combine the delivery of outstanding clinical services with world-class research and teaching. To this end, the programs in the division are structured to address the most pressing needs facing patients with kidney disease.
Areas of emphasis include the treatment of end-stage kidney disease, transplantation, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, glomerular disease, education and bone/mineral metabolism.
