Naggie receives IDSA’s Oswald Avery Award for Early Achievement

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) has presented its 2018 Oswald Avery Award for Early Achievement to Susanna Naggie, MD, MHS, associate professor of medicine (Infectious Diseases), for her novel research on the treatment of patients co-infected with HIV and hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Barbara Alexander to serve on IDSA Executive Board

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) has announced that Barbara Alexander, MD, professor of medicine (Infectious Diseases) and pathology, will serve as the IDSA board's vice president as part of the executive committee.

The Duke University School of Medicine will host a celebration honoring Duke Microbiology's achievement of being ranked No. 5 globally by US News and World Report.

The reception will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 27 in the Great Hall of the Trent Semans Center.

5 from Medicine accepted to ALICE leadership program

School of Medicine Office for Faculty Development has announced the next class in its ALICE program, a leadership development opportunity for mid-career women faculty in the School of Medicine. Five participants in the next class are from the Department of Medicine.

Duke Infectious Diseases celebrates 40 years of history and growth as a division

On Oct. 20-21 at Hanes House, Duke Department of Medicine celebrated the Division of Infectious Disease’s 40th anniversary in a symposium that reviewed Duke Infectious Diseases’ infancy, years of research, and the division’s contributors over the years. The division was established in 1977 with David Durack, MD, MBBS as the first division chief for Infectious Diseases.
