A letter from the Chief
As a former Duke University medical student, I am delighted and honored to lead our General Internal Medicine (GIM) Division, building upon our tradition of strength and growing in new and exciting directions. Our Division encompasses a highly talented, very collegial and committed faculty who are recognized nationally and internationally in the areas of medical education, ethics, clinical care and research in healthcare and health outcomes. Duke GIM continues to be recognized for its significant teaching efforts and leadership in the Duke University School of Medicine as well as its strong community partnerships and outreach programs.
Our vision is to improve adult patient, family, community, and population health through exemplary patient care, education, and research. We do this by:
- delivering the highest quality of care for patients across the spectrum of adult health and wellness
- training the next generation of master clinicians, researchers, and leaders in delivering and studying patient centered, high- value and highest quality care
- developing new methods for studying health and wellness that expand our capacity to deliver equitable, ethical, value-based and evidence-based care
- integrating research discoveries with health system innovation
We invite you to learn more about the teaching, research, and clinical activities of our dynamic division.
