5 ways to enjoy the annual DGIM wine + cheese event

The annual Duke GIM Wine & Cheese event is just around the corner, taking place this Wednesday, October 10th, from 4:30 - 6:30 PM on the 6th floor of the Trent Semans Center. If you haven't submitted your RSVP, do contact our GIM Program Director, Megan Churchill. 5. Come Hungry (and Thirsty) This is called the "Wine and Cheese" event for a reason, but there will also be lots of other delicious eats and treats as well as beverages.

Friday morning, Sept 28, was the opportunity to hear discussions by Dr. David Casarett, Chief of Duke Palliative Medicine, as well as 12 different innovator teams who presented novel tools in the Duke Palliative Care toolkit at the Palliative Care Innovation Showcase.

Cochrane UK hosted the 25th Cochrane Colloquium at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Scotland, September 16-18. Among the attendees were 3 familiar faces of Duke: John Williams, MD (GIM), Karen Goldstein, MD (GIM), and Jennifer Gierisch, PhD (Population Health Sciences).

Bhavsar in JAMA Network Open

Nrupen Bhavsar, PhD, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, is first author of an original investigation reported in the health informatics section of JAMA Network Open, September 21, 2018. The paper is entitled Value of Neighborhood Socioeconomic Status in Predicting Risk of Outcomes in Studies That Use Electronic Health Record Data.
